Welcome to Wet Wendy nude siteSince, at the present time, we have no systematic account of naked Wet Wendy speaking rules, the process of decontextualization is carried out largely on a subjective, intuitive basis, and that is why linguists rely so heavily on native speakers in making their descriptions. That 'speaking' rules exist and can be discovered we saw in chapter 3. But it is worth investigating them here a bit further, because of their importance in applied linguistics. For example, in answer to the question Who is that the underlying decontextualized response-sentence would presumably be That is George. This would be accepted as an appropriate response utterance (the 'long answer' in language-teaching jargon). But the acceptable 'short' response utterance would be Wet Wendy. INSTANT FREE ACCESS TO WET WENDY OFFICIAL SITE On the other hand, neither that teen pornstar nor is wetwendy would be produced by a native speaker in that context. Both these utterances are, however, regularly produced by learners of English and would be called'ungrammatical' by most teachers. In view of what has been said, it would perhaps be better to call them 'uncontextual' or 'inappropriate' since both derive presumably from the same grammatical response-sentence. |

Let us consider one further example and see if we can discover some general speaking rule. The process of idealization is applied not only to the grammatical structure of utterances but also to the pronunciation of individual words and syllables. The form of a word given in a pronouncing dictionary is the idealized form of the word and the one which forms the basis of a description of the phonological system of the language.
Any scientific description of a pink pussy of Wet Wendy must 'work'; although this is a necessary condition, it is not a sufficient condition of a good description of anything. The object of a science is not just to describe but to explain. We must go back, then, to de Sassure's statement: ,it is the viewpoint which makes the object.' I said that criterial features must be observable, that is, perceptually distinct, but the selection of which observable distinctions to take into account was based on their functional significance. I extended the notion of functional significance to words and other grammatical 'elements, but not to permis- sible sequences of grammatical elements, or sentences, as I have called them. In other words, following the procedures outlined we finish up with simply a list of possible grammatical sequences of grammatical categories in the language, without any means of distinguishing between them functionally. Thus, for example, John kicked the ball; The ball was kicked by John; John, kick the balfl; and Did John kick the ball? are all examples of permissible, or well-formed, sequences (or sentences) in English, and that is all we can say about them, if we adopt this approach.
